Beyond The Stained Glass Closet - Weekend Edition - Issue #13
Busy week with Trolls, Exgay Org Checklists, first BTSGC podcast, first Ask-It Basket Video, and trying to find wisdom of the authentic variety.
Hello Friends!
Trolls Upon Trolls And So On: What A Weird Saturday
Last week I wrote about how some Trolls live in church closets and not under bridges. It was about a situation when I did freelance work for Andy Comiskey a little over a decade ago that showed his willingness to intentionally troll people online for attention and support.
But unfortunately, the word must have gotten out among the troll community, and they didn’t like what I had to say. I was visited by two more trolls yesterday. I had a transphobic troll on one of my Instagram posts that was obsessed and unrelenting but quickly blocked.
And then, last night, we were headed to see one of our friend’s guitar teachers playing in a band at Tuffy’s. On the way in, we were verbally harassed by a man in a car, calling us a myriad of gay slurs and saying we all looked like girls and I needed to change my shirt… and many more gross insults. Something snapped, and I didn’t let him get away with saying all that and not get put in his place. While he said, “Fa***t, suck my d*,” I said, “Move on, a**h***, I don’t do charity work…” and back and forth for about 10 minutes.
Not proud of all that I had to say, but it felt good to square my shoulders look him right in the eyes, and remind him that big homophobic mouths in little ugly cars are cowards.
Well, it’s true.
During that time, a crowd of young twenty-somethings and a couple of older couples gathered around us. They started yelling at him to mind his business and leave our friends and us alone. The police showed up, and the dude tried to outrun them, but they got him about a block over. He ended up with what appeared to be instant karma. The police *really* put him in his place. And we went in to have a good time listening to great music, and we did! My next post will probably be more about that whole incident because of the beauty that manifested in the ugly, taking ownership of my ugly matching energy, and processing the deeper messages underlying it all. Stay tuned.
Memoir Update
The good news, we are scheduling a meeting soon to get back to content editing. It will be much more intensive and focused, so it will take some time to accomplish. I look forward to the challenge.
Thank You!
As always, your support as a free or paid subscriber is deeply appreciated; your friendship is deeply cherished. I am incredibly grateful for you. Have a great, troll-free week!

Hey Randy. Maybe it’s my flesh but actually what you said to that guy was very appropriate. Whenever Someone sees you or me they seem to automatically think that we are pushovers and of little consequence. But they soon find out differently :-) I think we’re acting like Jesus when we do respond in these ways. That charity work comment is priceless :-) I think profanity does occasionally serve its purposes and in this case I think it definitely did. I applaud and commend you
