I have to admit. I am struggling with Easter this year. I am not struggling with Jesus or His role as Lord and Savior in my life. I honestly believe He rose from the dead to lead the way Home to the Divine.
What I struggle with is religious hypocrites showing up to church in their finest attire, big smiles, and saying, “He is risen!” while not loving their neighbor, feeding the poor, providing for the homeless, or sheltering migrants.
The pious are also scoffing around the nation about the fact that it is Trans Visibility Day, ignorantly thinking it is all about their persecution complex and that a day that has happened every March 31st since 2009 was planned as a direct insult toward them.
They have no context for a 15-year-old annual event because anything not in their direct orbit isn’t important (to them). They solipsistically think that it is not important until they deem it important. These folks will undoubtedly crack that Easter smile with a smirk, believing they are being persecuted just like… Trump… erm, I mean Jesus. /satire.
In my humble opinion, God created both males and females (and all the other wonderful expressions of gender) to reflect “Our Father” accurately. This means I believe that if God can create more than one Gender to represent Themself, God transcends gender. The Divine is not limited to a patriarchal definition; She is just as comfortable with being called Our Mother.
Wisdom, our Counselor, is personified as a woman in Proverbs. In my mind it’s not that much of a leap to consider the Holy Spirit, our Counselor, a feminine energy. And I could go on… but I won’t.
I am going to remember our Easter celebration with friends yesterday and let the inward-focused Trump followers keep staring at their navel.
Anyway…
Look at this great group of friends… and to all celebrating Easter and our Trans siblings… have a wonderful day.
Hey Randy, unfortunately, you’re right about a lot of what the evangelicals capital E believe. I think once you really have a firm grip about what grace is you are never the same , knowing that what Jesus did on the cross is finished and you don’t have to worry about him sending down a lightning bolt on you every time you sin. And you will be out helping the migrant the homeless those who are in need of so many different resources. If this were truly a Christian country, we would see a lot more evidence of it.
Thanks for sharing this with us : )
Happy Resurrection day to you and Dan!
