Someone Tried To Assassinate Trump & Eli The Dramahuahua Is Oblivous
I wish I could be Eli, but I can't ignore this very dark day in American history...
G*d, I hate politics. Hate it.
A fellow American took up arms to try and kill a former President. No matter what political persuasion I have come from throughout my life, that sentence sends chills down my spine. I believe the assassination attempt of Trump is a dark stain on our country for us all.
We are already sliding toward the apocalypse; this only threw gasoline on an already raging wildfire.
I love civics and have been a civics nerd my whole life. I was in Youth in Government all four years of high school. I was a liberal until I became an evangelical Christian turned right-wing activist. ← That was a nightmare, and now that I am out (again), I am very liberal again.
Even so, for the past few years, I RARELY talk publicly about politics and government, even though I am glued to the screen every time real breaking news happens.
But I have to join the chorus of strong condemnation of political violence.
If you know me, you know I detest the King Brat Baby with everything in me. I want him to go to jail for a myriad of reasons aside from being convicted of 30+ felonies he already has on his record.
That said, I would never wish death on him. I would never encourage or condone political violence, regardless of the fact he is a man of violence himself (in my opinion). He loves, stokes, and feeds off of violence. I won’t join in from the other side of things to provide any of that.
I see some friends making light of the situation, posting memes, and making clever insults. I have no judgment against them. I love my friends. You do you.
The reason I am not laughing with you is because I believe that for me to do so, with my strong love of our system of government, would be to dishonor America further. I am not saying my friends who are posting flip messages are. I mean, free speech is a thing. Have at it. I just know for me it would be dishonoring to myself and the country I love to join in.
So, I am going to let Eli chew on my thumb some more until he calms down and then finish cleaning the house.
